Under the Tricolor

The year is 1782, and whilst the monarchy still holds sway over France, the rumblings of a discontented people grow louder. Madeleine Fleury, a supporter of the revolutionary cause, is recruited to work for an underground press in the Palais-Royal. But her new master has further plans for the beautiful young girl - plans with which Madeleine does not intend to comply.

Fleeing from her lascivious captor, Madeleine is assisted by a handsome young naval officer - in a brief encounter which is to change the course of her life. The memory of the reckless young officer continues to haunt Madeleine.

She has vowed to find him again, but in a nation so fiercely divided by revolution, they are now on opposing sides. Eventually Madeleine must choose between her loyalty to her republican compatriots - and her inextinguishable passion for her royalist foe.

Gabriella

In 1840 Italy was a divided nation under the power of Austria. In London, Giuseppe Mazzini befriends a young girl, Gabriella Pepe, and it is through him that she comes to the attention of visiting Italian musicians.

She travels to Italy and becomes involved with the dangers of the nationalist cause, and the battle to free Rome.
